「お盆ぼん」は何なんですか？

8月13日から15日、16日までの期間きかんを「お盆ぼん」と言いいます。お盆ぼんは先祖せんぞの霊れいにお祈いのりする期間きかんで、故郷こきょうに帰かえってお墓参はかまいりをする風習ふうしゅうがあります。日本にほんの会社かいしゃもこの期間きかんをお盆休ぼんやすみとしている会社かいしゃが多おおいです。

お盆ぼんには、地域ちいきによって様々さまざまな習慣しゅうかんがあります。米こめの粉こなを使つかってお団子だんごを作つくったり、精霊馬しょうりょううまといって、ナスやキュウリに割わりばしを刺さして、馬うまや牛うまの形かたちを作つくったりします。ナスやキュウリで作つくった馬うまや牛うしに乗のって、先祖せんぞの霊れいがあの世よからこの世よに帰かえってくると考かんがえられていました。あの世よからこの世よに帰かえってくるときは、早はやく帰かえってきて欲ほしいのでキュウリで作つくった馬うまに乗のって帰かえってきます。そしてお盆ぼんが終おわわってこの世よからあの世よに帰かえる時ときは、ゆっくり帰かえってほしいのでナスで作つくった牛うしに乗のってゆっくり帰かえるそうです。

お盆ぼんの期間きかんは盆祭ぼんまつりといって日本各地にほんかくちでお祭まつりが行おこなわれています。お盆ぼんの時期じきに日本にほんを旅行りょこうする場合ばあいは、盆祭ぼんまつりについて調しらべてみるといいかもしれません。夏なつの日本にほんの雰囲気ふんいきを楽たのしめると思おもいます。

What's お盆？

The period from August 13 to 15 or 16 is called Obon. Obon is a period of praying to the spirits of ancestors, and it is customary to return to one's hometown and visit graves. Many Japanese companies also observe this period as Obon vacations.

There are a variety of customs during Obon, depending on the region. For example, rice flour is used to make dumplings. Stick a splittable eggplant or cucumber in the shape of a horse or cow. These horses and cows made from vegetables are called "Shoryo-uma". It was believed that the spirits of ancestors would return to this world from the afterlife on Shoryo-uma. When they come back to this world from the afterlife, they ride on horses made of cucumbers because they want their return to be quick. When they return to the afterlife after Obon, they ride a cow made of eggplant to return slowly.

During the Obon period, festivals called Bon Matsuri are held all over Japan. If you are traveling to Japan during the Obon season, you may want to look into Bon festivals. I think you will enjoy the summer atmosphere of Japan.
