2月(にがつ)14日(じゅうよっか)はバレンタインデーです。日本でバレンタインデーは戦後(せんご)に始(はじ)まりました。お菓子(かし)を作(つく)る会社が、バレンタインの文化を日本に広(ひろ)めました。
日本では一般的(いっぱんてき)に、バレンタインデーは女性(じょせい)が男性(だんせい)へチョコレートをプレゼントします。
バレンタインデーが近(ちか)づくと、スーパーやデパート、コンビニなど様々(さまざま)な場所(ばしょ)でチョコレートや、お菓子を作(つく)る道具(どうぐ)、お菓子を包(つつ)む紙(かみ)などが売(う)られます。
3月(さんがつ)14日はホワイトデーです。ホワイトデーは、男性が女性に、バレンタインデーのお礼(れい)としてプレゼントを渡(わた)します。このホワイトデーの文化(ぶんか)は、海外(かいがい)では珍(めずら)しいかもしれません。

Valentine’s Day in Japan
February 14th is Valentine's Day. In Japan, Valentine's Day started after WW2. Companies that make sweets spread the culture of Valentine's Day in Japan.
In Japan, women generally give chocolates to men on Valentine's Day.
From the middle of January, supermarkets, department stores, convenience stores, and other places sell chocolates, tools to make sweets, and paper to wrap sweets.
March 14th is White Day. On White Day, men give gifts to women as a thank you for their kindness on Valentine's Day. This White Day culture may be rare in other countries.
